TT,
I love my boyfriend. He is nice, kind and smart and should have a good and solid future in his field. However, he still has a roommate who is really rude and inconsiderate always popping in when we’re talking and want some time alone. He is really indifferent or stupid, but he just can’t seem to take a hint and leave us alone. He also forgets to flush the toilet which is particularly disgusting. I tell my boyfriend to do something, either move out or talk to him, but he doesn’t want to rock the boat as he’s counting on the low rent for the next few years. What advice do you have for me TT? FH, you must tell the boyfriend in no uncertain terms that the roommate’s presence is not wanted and to learn some manners. How utterly disgusting! I am sorry you have to endure such disrespect. If that does not work, you are going to have to pressure your boyfriend to take some type of action. He might consider waking him up at 4 in the morning or hiding his belongings. Non-stop phone calls might be a solution and of course vandalizing his car (but so it still drives) is always an option. Regardless, don’t let this slide. Your relationship hangs in the balance as you will lose respect for him in the coming years if he continues to be a weak sister.
