Tough Talk,

My sister’s best friend’s little cousin comes over to our house regularly as my sister babysits him.  When he was younger, everybody liked him and he was the baby of the family so to speak.  But now, he is a plain mean, rude, nasty little boy and no one likes him.  If he wasn’t 6 years old and someone else’s child, he would have caught several beatings by now.  I know little boys go through phases and I’d prefer to ignore this, but what should I do when he damages our property and leaves filthy messes in our bathroom on purpose?  Tough Talk, what’s your advice?  (Messacoola, Mississippi)

Messacoola,

The best you can do is not cop out and take the matter into your own hands.  You tell your sister and best friend that if that spoiled rotten little brat misbehaves, he will be punished severely and never allowed back in your home.  Of course, this may upset them but it’s the only way to make your point.  Be tough and don’t back down.  Don’t let some crappy little boy ruin your home.
