My mother-in-law, God bless her, years ago gave us this clock which has animal noises and other cute features. As much as I love it, it really looks old and like a piece of crap. I hate to get rid of it, but we’re downsizing and don’t need it anymore. I’m thinking to ask her if she wants it, but I don’t want to hurt her feelings. What should I do TT? (Edgewood, Delaware)

I wouldn’t worry about her feelings. What I would do is save some money on this year’s Christmas gift, wrap it up nice and pretty, and give it back to her. Play it off like isn’t this a cute idea? She will be delighted. If not, too bad.
